The size adjustment method for a hose clamp depends on its type, primarily achieved through screw rotation, clamping with a special tool, or elastic contraction. Here are the adjustment methods for common hose clamps:

 

Screw-type Hose Clamps (e.g., American, German type): These clamps rely on a screw to tighten or loosen the steel band. Use a screwdriver (flathead or Phillips head) to rotate the nut; clockwise tightening decreases the diameter, counter-clockwise loosening increases it. Apply force gradually during adjustment to avoid over-tightening, which could deform the pipe or break the clamp.

 

Infinitely Tight Hose Clamps (Single/Double Ear Worm Gear Clamps): Tightness is adjusted by rotating the worm gear. After fitting the clamp onto the pipe, use a wrench or clamp pliers to slowly rotate the worm gear, causing the steel band to contract evenly until the desired tightness is achieved. These clamps are easy to operate and suitable for high-frequency vibration environments such as automotive cooling systems.

 

Disposable/screwless clamps (such as spring clamps and stepless clamps) cannot be manually adjusted repeatedly and require special tools (such as pneumatic pliers or clamping pliers) for installation. For example, stepless clamps are tightened by clamping the lugs with a tool, causing the steel strip to automatically retract and lock. Once disassembled, they become ineffective and cannot be reused.

 

Elastic clamps (stainless steel pipe clamps) are made of elastic material and have a variable inner diameter range (e.g., specification 14-27 indicates compatibility with 14~27mm pipes). During installation, they are directly slipped onto the pipe, using their own elasticity to achieve a seal. Some models allow for fine adjustment of the ring diameter using a screwdriver.
