Hose clamps are mainly divided into two categories: metal and plastic. Metal clamps can be further subdivided based on their specific composition and surface treatment.
Different materials are suitable for different environmental conditions.
Metal Materials
Carbon Steel Galvanized (W1 Type)
- Material: Steel strips, screws, and nuts are all made of carbon steel, with a galvanized surface treatment (either white zinc or yellow zinc).
- Features: Low cost, high cost-effectiveness, with some rust resistance, suitable for dry or general industrial environments.
- Limitations: Prone to rusting when exposed to humid or corrosive environments for extended periods.
Stainless Steel (W4 Type)
Common grades: 304 stainless steel (AISI 304), 316 stainless steel, 201 stainless steel.
Features:
- 304/316 stainless steel: High temperature resistance, strong corrosion resistance, suitable for high-humidity and high-corrosion environments such as chemical, food, shipbuilding, and coastal areas. 201 Stainless Steel: Lower cost, weaker corrosion resistance than 304, suitable for general outdoor use.
- Applications: Recommended for critical components such as automotive engine compartments, water heater connection pipes, and food-grade piping.
Double Wire Material
- Classification: Carbon steel wire (galvanized) or stainless steel wire (such as 201 stainless steel).
- Features: Constructed from two interlaced steel wires, providing strong fastening force. Specifically designed for thick-walled hose connections, commonly found in heavy equipment such as trucks and loaders.
